Regarded as one of the premier health care systems in the nation, Baptist Memorial Health Care is an award-winning network dedicated to providing compassionate, high-quality care for patients. With 15 affiliate hospitals throughout the Mid-South, Baptist combines convenience with excellence of care.

With the intention of caring for people close to their homes, the Baptist system also offers more than 3,100 affiliated physicians; home, hospice and psychiatric care; minor medical clinics; a network of surgery, rehabilitation and other outpatient centers; Baptist Medical Group, the Memphis area’s largest multispecialty physician group; and an education system highlighted by the Baptist College of Health Sciences.

Baptist History

Since our modest beginning in 1912 with a 150-bed hospital, Baptist has grown to meet the expanding needs of the communities we serve, at one point becoming the largest privately owned hospital in the nation. But what has remained is the same caring atmosphere that inspired our founders. From our professional staff to our experienced medical staff and renowned clinical services, that pervasive spirit of caring inspires every area of operation at Baptist. Read more about our history and how we have grown.

Testimonials

"It is actually hard to put into words the feeling I had meeting and joining with the Memphis 'giving' community at the LPBC Signature Breakfast hosted by Smith & Nephew and in partnership with The Martin Institute for Teaching Excellence in August, 2014. To see living embodiments of real and true compassion and caring for others, all gathered in one place gave me some sense of the astounding range, depth and sustained good works the business community in Memphis is doing. It was clear to me

"It was very revealing. I had no idea of the broad range of community outreach initiatives involved by the sponsoring members. This is the most positive movement that I have seen in Memphis in a long time and is surely needed. I really enjoyed my visit."
