Aisling Maki is a professional writer and editor with more than 13 years of communications experience, which includes print, digital and broadcast journalism, and public and media relations.
Her work has appeared in publications in more than 20 countries and she's written locally for more than a dozen Memphis media outlets, including The Commercial Appeal, Memphis Flyer, Memphis Parent Magazine and Inside Memphis Business. Aisling is a regular contributor to I Love Memphis and High Ground News. She previously worked as a digital producer and weekend reporter for Action News 5, Memphis correspondent for the Agence France-Presse (AFP) and staff reporter for Memphis Daily News, where she covered business, health care and nonprofits. She's received numerous journalism awards from organizations such as The Associated Press and Society of Professional Journalists.
Aisling spent five years working in public relations, managing and supporting PR projects for clients in the nonprofit, government and academic sectors. She holds PRSA VOX Gold Awards for feature writing and media relations from the Public Relations Society of America.
Aisling is also an accomplished creative writer, having won first place for short story writing from UConn's Myriads Literary Journal; Memphis Magazine's Fiction Grand Prize, and a screenwriting award from the Memphis 48-Hour Film Project. She is a member of the New-York based Irish American Writers & Artists, Inc.
Aisling is a longtime volunteer for Memphis Child Advocacy Center and several animal rescue groups. She and her daughter are avid travelers who love exploring other cultures. They live in Midtown, and you'll usually find them cheering on the Grizzlies, taking in live music or art shows, or engaging in the many outdoor activities the Memphis area offers.
