Radio Show: Vitalant

60% of the current donor base is aged 40 and older. 45% is aged 50 and older. As these folks start to age, they are unable to donate as often or not at all. Vitalant is in need of those aged 40 and younger to understand the importance of blood donation, a stable blood supply and to start donating on a regular basis.

Many people wait to donate until there is a major catastrophe. But the blood that saves lives in those circumstances is the blood that has been donated days before. It's the blood on the shelves that saves lives, which is why they ask donors to donate on a regular basis, at least 2-3 times a year.

All blood types are needed and are important! Type O blood is always in high demand because it is the most transfused type in emergency situations.
