Nashville Radio Show: Cottage Cove Urban Ministries

Cottage Cove has been serving at-risk children in Nashville for 24 years (founded in 1994 by Tom and Kim Shumate, incorporated in 1995). Directed by Brent and Angie MacDonald since 2002, Cottage Cove is a non-profit, non-denominational Christian, tax-exempt 501(c)3 ministry outreach with special emphasis on at-risk children and youth.

  • Cottage Cove Urban Ministries is celebrating 25 years serving at-risk children and youth in Nashville. (Should introduce what we do on a daily basis). We need volunteers after school on all weekdays, but also have a number of project where people can help in evenings or weekends.
  • Currently two locations – the original in the Vine Hill area of Nashville (by the state fairgrounds) and also in Madison.
  • Big change coming over the next year. Moving from the Vine Hill neighborhood and starting two new locations (Glencliff & Tusculum) to replace it.
  • Upcoming: Our one annual fundraiser Open Hands | Open Hearts on November 7. Sponsorships and table hosting are available.
  • ·Upcoming: We provide all of Christmas for many needy families (for the past two years, for the families of about 400 children). This is called Christmas with Dignity. (Ask why it’s called Christmas with Dignity!) This year on December 14. We need hundreds of volunteers to make the day possible, plus many generous people to donate the toys and supplies necessary.
